Day 3 - July 14

Matt is up EARLY again! Oh, this guy. His energy never seems to wane. I can’t believe he is almost 70. Nothing about him seems old. He can go nonstop. Never complains. Never hurts. Everything is wonderful and he sees something amazing everywhere he looks. What a wonderful travel companion he is.

I finally dragged my lazy butt out of bed and showered. We decided to eat breakfast in the dining room today and it didn’t open until 7:30 so we wandered around a bit and then headed into breakfast. Once again, fabulous food. So good. I will miss all this good food. It is the best food I’ve eaten in a long time.
After breakfast, we went to the informational session for the land part of our tour. Nothing new here. Mostly repeating everything that was written. Typical American fashion. Say things multiple times and expect nobody to ever read what was written.

After the tour informational session, we wandered over and bought a picture from our formal photos. I was a bit disappointed. They didn’t turn out very well but we got one that was somewhat decent.

By now, we are getting close to Juneau. We needed to eat lunch before getting off the boat so yes, we ate again! How much can you eat? We are testing it. The weather was beautiful and we sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine. What a wonderful day. Matt loved watching all the cruise ships come in and dock. There are five of them in dock including our. Five! Pouring thousands of people into this little tiny town.

We finally got off and wandered around town for a bit. Went to the Juneau City Hall and looked around a little. Wandered back to the meeting place for our shore excursion. We are going to see the Mendenhall Glacier and doing the Tram up to Mt. Roberts.

The bus ride to the Glacier was pretty short but the bus driver, who was supposed to be providing history of the area, was not great. Bad jokes and not much interesting history. But it was ok. We hiked to the Glacier and Nugget Falls. So beautiful. Watched a little movie in the Visitor Center and headed back. When we returned, we boarded the Tram and went to the top. Lines are long everywhere. Everywhere. But we are patient. Did some absolutely beautiful hiking at the top. Getting down the lines were even longer.

We boarded the ship, changed clothes, and headed in for one more phenomenal dinner, And as usual, it did not disappoint. The food is just so good, no matter what you eat.

I am so full after dinner and so tired. So tired. We have to pack up tonight and put our suitcases outside the door so we kept back what we needed and packed everything else. I am so happy to be in bed. I passed out almost immediately.
